THE CHALLENGE
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children needed to design and
develop three screen savers to illustrate particular safety tips for children.
The screen savers were to be downloaded from NCMEC's
web site, released on CD-ROM, and installed on computers in libraries
across the United States. Each of the 3 colorful, smart and fun screen savers
were to illustrate safety tips relative to an environment or season.
THE SOLUTION
Working closely with Fuszion Collaborative in Virginia, we created the Safely
to School screen saver first. We began with a flat illustration of the scene
provided by Fuszion, the different characters and the tips. All of the provided
illustrations were imported into Flash, optimized for the web and a 2-minute
story board was created. The next two screen savers required some character
creation by us in the Flash environment. These two and a half minute animations
took weeks to finalize but the result was worth the effort. Take a look for
yourself.
